Our Story

Trochem was founded in 2015 by Emma Wilson and James Chen, two finance professionals who recognized a critical gap in New Zealand's financial ecosystem. With backgrounds in venture capital and investment banking respectively, they saw that innovative tech companies in New Zealand were struggling to access global capital and strategic financial guidance tailored to their unique needs.

Starting with just a small office in Auckland and three clients, Trochem quickly established itself as a trusted partner for tech entrepreneurs seeking to scale their operations beyond local markets. By combining deep knowledge of New Zealand's economic landscape with extensive international connections, the company created a bridge between local innovation and global investment opportunities.

Over the past eight years, we've grown from that small founding team to a diverse group of 28 financial strategists, investment specialists, and industry experts. We've helped more than 75 companies secure over $320 million in funding, while maintaining our commitment to personalized service and long-term partnerships.

Emma Wilson

Founder & CEO

With over 15 years in venture capital across Asia-Pacific markets, Emma brings strategic vision and investor relationships to Trochem. Former Partner at Blackbird Ventures and economics graduate from University of Auckland.

James Chen

Co-Founder & Chief Investment Officer

James oversees Trochem's investment strategies and financial modeling frameworks. Former investment banker at Morgan Stanley with expertise in technology sector deals. MBA from Stanford and Computer Science degree from University of Canterbury.

Olivia Bennett

Head of Strategic Partnerships

Olivia leads Trochem's relationship building with global investment partners and accelerators. Previously Director of Partnerships at CreativeHQ and advisor to NZ Trade & Enterprise. Brings extensive networks across Silicon Valley, Singapore and European tech hubs.

Mateo Taumaunu

Director of Maori Business Development

Mateo specializes in supporting indigenous-led tech ventures and ensuring Trochem's strategies embrace cultural diversity. Former economic development advisor to Te Puni Kōkiri and founder of Kia Maia Ventures. MBA from Victoria University.
